On Hiatus Until Further Notice
Why is the page still up if you're on hiatus?
The information here is provided as reference, all methods of payment will be removed so as not to confuse people.
When are lessons coming back?
I have no idea, Uni is full 5 days a week for 2 years straight, doing intense studies, and I have other obligations and endeavours that are more of a priority right now.
I paid for a lesson or rescheduled a lesson but haven't booked yet, are my lessons till valid?
Every lesson has a 3 month grace period in which to schedule your lesson. If you do not book in your lesson during that time, you are not entitled to a refund of your money - To pay for a lesson and not book it is an unfortunate loss of time, and lessons are not the only thing I do for a living.
If you are still within your 3 month grace period, get in touch and we can schedule in your lesson before I am at University full time.

Blender Lessons for SL with Cyclic Gearz
More than
students taught since 2012!
Thank you for looking into taking Blender lessons with me!
Please take a look at these lesson overviews to see how good of a fit they will be for you. These overviews are general, they're a basic idea of what kinds of things I teach, and examples of how lessons can be laid out.
While I have these layouts here, I tend to let the lessons be tailored to each student, so that the lessons match their skill level and abilities. Lessons are as fast or as slow as you want, if I go too fast, ask me to slow down, if you have questions, stop me and ask them, etc.
I am here to help you unlock your potential for making awesome things at a pace that suits you, and give you the support and guidance to help your self confidence in your work.
For students new to Blender, I recommend taking the Basics in Modelling and Texturing, this will set you up ready for making static mesh for upload to Second Life. When you're ready and confident in your skills, then I recommend the Rigging lesson. As your skills grow, you can refine and add to your skillset with the Advanced lessons, or a customised lesson just for you!

For those wishing to make mesh for branded bodies or feet, you must have the dev kit you wish to mesh for.
These are examples of what kinds of things you can learn in a custom lesson, they are not exhaustive, and do not have to have everything listed in the examples either.
You can also commission a lesson where I do a step-by-step or walkthrough making a specific item.

Greetings future Maya learners! At present I don't teach Maya, but if you want to learn Maya for SL, then I completely, wholeheartedly recommend CreateMesh. They have in-depth, concise video courses to help you get to grips with Maya and to utilise it for SL.
Awesome stuff!

Terms of ServiceIt's important to note that I can only teach you skills, not talent. You have to work on both in order to succeed in making mesh for any reason, not just Second Life, and I can help you with the skills side of things.
Payment is due before booking, this is to prevent time-wasters and to reserve your place in the calendar. Lessons should be booked within at least 4 weeks of payment. You can book up to 3 months in advance. If you don’t attend a lesson in due time without letting me know, it will be considered as cancelled after 15 minutes. You can rearrange the lesson after, however if this is a consistent problem, I’ll have a talk with you about options. Consistent no-showing will result in forfeiture of the lesson with no refunds. In order to foster an appropriate student/tutor relationship I politely ask that you do not use anything learned in our lessons together to teach others in the manner of which you have been taught, (ie give direct lessons to others, for free or for money) and instead forward on my details in order that they be able to benefit from lessons the same way you will. If in doubt, drop me a message! |
Pricing
About the lessonsLessons are via Skype, (My Skype username will be provided at consultation) and I share my screen to you as you take notes or work alongside, whatever works for you.
You will get plenty of positive reviews of my teaching abilities from across a breadth of Second Lifers and other virtual world creators. I have taught more than 120 individual students, and dedicated past students have gone on to participate in popular Second Life events such as FLF, Collabor88 and The Arcade. If you have any questions, please ask! |
Referral Scheme
I offer a reward scheme for people who refer students here, if your name is used as a referral when a student signs up, books and pays for their lessons, you earn a referral point for each student. Make sure they put your name in when they fill in their consultation form otherwise you won't get the points!
By the time you have 10 referral points, you will have earned a total of 6 lessons, worth £120GBP, all for free!
See the table below for the tariff for referral points.

Priced the same as a usual lesson, these gift lessons are given to your chosen recipient in a custom mesh gift box.
The certificate will have the name of the recipient and the sender, and be no mod, and no transfer. These lessons are subject to a few little rules to safeguard everybodies interests. The gift packages are non transferable, and are valid for up to 3 months from the date of the purchase. It is the responsibility of the recipient of the gift certificate to organise and remember to attend their lesson, to have the appropriate equipment to hand (ie microphone and headset or speakers), and the relevant installation of Blender. Recipients upon booking their lessons are subject to the same rules and guidelines for lessons as outlined on the Info and Rules page. |

It has been over two years since I had my first class but it did not take me long to learn from Cyclic/Harriet. Cyclic/Harriet really knows her stuff, not just with regards to the software and modelling techniques, but she also has a real flair for teaching. She can convey often complicated information simply and effectively in her lesson demonstrations, at a range of abilities. Taking lessons one on one with Cyclic/Harriet was one of the smartest things I could've done to start learning to create mesh. I literally knew nothing, Blender was an alien program to me. Within a few lessons I was able to make most meshes, rig, texture and feel really comfortable working with Blender! |
